Oh well, call them “rustic”. Rustic dishes can rationalise a multitude of things… including home-made powdered sugar!

Sprinkle extra sugar on top and tell people you meant for them to be that way.

The only powdered sugar I could find while we were in Korea was gritty and not powdery enough… I still made frosting because I was craving it, but it definitely would have been better with normal powdered sugar!

I actually think they looks really cool. Who says icing has to be smooth? :)

Looks good to. I still eat them even if the icing is not smooth for as long as they taste good.

Hey but the photo is pretty cool.

I think your cupcakes still look tasty… I have never tried making my own powdered sugar before, but I’ll keep this in mind.

Now you tell me! I tried making powdered sugar for cookie icing and it just didn’t work. Your cupcakes still look really yummy, maybe we can start a new trend- grainy icing

Don’t despair. I personally think that frosting made with powdered sugar usually does have a grainy texture.

My hubs made powdered sugar for macarons. It worked ok, but not great. Live and learn:) Still love the photo!

Feed them to room full of kids and large soft objects. Hold a video camera. Enjoy. Post. Repeat. :P

Hey, no such thing as failure — merely another experiment and new information gathered! Besides, I’m sure they tasted dandy. I made chocolate chip cookies, but ended up slightly burning the last batch because I got stuck on the phone — whoops! But I ate them anyways because they were still tasty!
